Homero Castañeda

Licensed to practice law in Mexico, Mr. Castañeda is involved in our firm’s cross-border probate, cross-border estate planning, Mexico real estate and Mexico corporate matters.

Mr. Castañeda worked as a foreign attorney and as a paralegal at a prominent law firm in San Diego in the areas of corporate law, real estate law, title review, civil litigation, cross-border disputes and criminal defense involving extradition between the US and Mexico.  He also worked at Stewart Title (Public, NYSE: STC) in the role of Legal Manager at its Tijuana office, then as General Manager of its Los Cabos office and as Regional Legal Manager, responsible for all legal matters relating to the Los Cabos, Tijuana and Puerto Peñasco offices, where he was instrumental in pioneering, setting-up and overseeing its Mortgage Services Division which was created to provide turnkey solutions for US-based lenders (which included Wachovia, GMAC, Citibank, GE Capital and others) who required on-site service providers who could provide closing, title and escrow services for their US-based loans secured by properties in Mexico through Irrevocable Real Property Guaranty Trusts.  Prior to joining Maldonado & Markham, LLP, the predecessor firm of Maldonado Law Group, he practiced real estate law in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.  Throughout his legal career Mr. Castañeda has acquired an extensive skill set that allows him to work on a wide variety of cases.  

Mr. Castañeda earned a Licenciatura en Derecho (LLB) law degree from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in 2001.  Additionally, Mr. Castañeda is a graduate of the University of San Diego’s Paralegal Program with an emphasis on Business and Real Estate Law.
